Most people would simply rather pay their credit card debts than deal with collection phone calls and collection attorney letters. But, what about those who cannot afford to make monthly minimum payments on their credit card debt? Many fall prey to the debt collection industry. Some, however, become educated consumers and use the law to force debt collectors to spend their time with other, less knowledgeable consumers.

Depending on how he or she spends it, time is the debt collector’s friend or enemy. Ideally debt collectors would like to spend their time with consumers who are easy to collect from. Everyone knows an overdue credit card debt will bring a call or letter for a debt collector. What they do not know is with a proper consumer response to that communication, the debt collector will move onto a more likely target.

Consumer debt collection has grown and prospered with the expansion of the credit card industry.

The Federal Reserve and Business Week report $133.7 billion of consumer debt in 1970 increased to $2.5 trillion of consumer debt in November 2007.

According to a trade group for the debt collection industry, ACA International, each year debt collectors put more than $40 billion back into the U.S. economy.

There were 173 million credit cardholders in the United States in 2006, According to the U.S. Census Bureau.

According to the American Banking Associate, in the first quarter of 2009, 4.75 percent of bank cards were delinquent.

These statistics indicate debt collectors are awash in millions of delinquent credit card accounts.

Credit card companies must comply with Federal Reserve regulations by keeping reserves to for bad debts. Bad debt is part of their business. After these debts are written off, junk debt buyers bid on blocks of delinquent credit card accounts. If successful, they pay no more than 10 cents for each dollar of debt. With that discount rate junk debt buyers and the collection agencies and collection attorneys who work for them only need to collect 30 or 40 percent of the debts to make money.

Debt collectors make the same empty threats to both resistant and non-resistant consumers holding credit card debt. Usually, however, they only follow-up with more threats and intimidation with the non-resistant majority of delinquent credit card account holders. The secret is learning the correct response to those initial threats and how to use the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act covers the behavior of collection agencies, junk debt buyers, and collection attorneys. The FDCPA treats attorneys as debts collectors, if they are collecting consumer debt. The consumer must be notified in writing by the debt collector of their right to dispute the debt and have it validated, according to the FDCPA. Copies of original documentation that verifies a debt are considered proper validation by the FDCPA. The FDCPA gives the consumer the right to tell the debt collector to stop collection activity until they have validated the debt.

So, who should the consumer debt-collection commissioned professionals spend their time with, those who properly dispute and request validation or those who put up no resistance?

Persons with high amounts of debt can reap considerable benefits from debt relief programs. These programs are designed to help people who are unable to pay their debts. Nonetheless, finding a program and negotiating the terms of the plans could affect each individual’s economic condition differently. In order to free yourself from debt, you should select a debt relief program that meets your exact goals.

For example, debt negotiation is a common debt relief program. It saves you money because you are able to pay a reduced amount of your original debt. You will also save time, as professional debt negotiators are the ones discussing the debt reduction process on your behalf. Many people inherently understand the benefits of finding a reliable debt relief program, everyone, especially those who are most vulnerable, should be aware of companies that are only out to make a quick dollar.

Common Scam Techniques There are many legitimate debt relief companies. Unfortunately, there are a few others who are only looking to take advantage of your desire to settle your debts. Similar to legitimate debt relief companies, they offer debtors the possibility of becoming debt-free. They take your money and your debt stays the same.

There are a few common telltale signs that the debt relief program you are dealing with is a fraud. If they charge to fix credit reports, offer to loan you money, or are encourage you to assume another identity, they are probably trying to scam you. Thus, it is important to be able to identify these ploys. It will help you discern which firms are trustworthy and allow you avoid a painful lesson.

Charging to Fix Your Credit Report A number of debt relief programs offer to clean up your credit report if you are willing to pay substantial fees. The process of cleaning up a credit report can be quite intricate. This is the reason why most people hire professionals. Many persons do not realize that they can fix their credit report free of charge. By law, you are entitled to a yearly credit report from the three foremost credit bureaus.

Loaning To Fix Bad Credit This ploy hurts you in two ways. A confident sales person notifies you that you have qualified for a considerable unsecured loan. They tell you that you will be able to use this loan to pay back your debts. Only, they ask you for a processing fee, a good faith payment, or some other sum before you can get the loan. When they have your money, you never hear from them again. Not only is your credit not cleared up, but you have also been tricked out of money that you need. If anyone asks you for upfront money or tells you to send them money, flee!

False Identity Some companies will ask you to create a new identity. They claim that this new identity will help you achieve a higher credit score. This is a completely illegal. Everyone should be aware that creating a false identity is a clear violation of the law.

Make it a point to screen the credit repair company you are dealing with and look for these red flags. If you are serious about getting rid of your credit debt, then there are many legitimate ways to accomplish this. Do not let your situation cause you to fall for these scams. Rebuilding credit is a slow, deliberate process. However, doing it the right way will pay off in the end.

Anyone looking to find an answer for their mounting debt has probably at least heard of credit card debt consolidation loans. The term is actually often misused when referring to credit card debt consolidation. It is important that people properly understand exactly what their options are so we’re going to take a look at those right now.

Simply stated, debt consolidation is when a consumer combines all their debts so that there is one single monthly payment which will then be distributed to satisfy the various creditors. The whole purpose of it is to make the payments more affordable by lowering the interest rates. Oftentimes penalties and fees are also forgiven by the creditor.

So when people speak of credit card debt consolidation loans they are actually not speaking about a loan at all but rather a program designed to make their payments more affordable so that they can get them paid off and become debt free. If consumers are in fact seeking a loan to pay off their credit card debt then perhaps a home equity loan or some other line of credit such as a personal loan is a possibility.

When you pay off your credit card debt with a loan you are not consolidating your debt. You are actually paying it off and creating a different one with different terms, perhaps. This has been a source of confusion for many people.

Also confusing to some are the terms debt consolidation companies and credit counseling services that are both being used to describe the same thing. These companies work on behalf of the consumer to negotiate better terms with credit card companies. They are not offering credit card debt consolidation loans they are helping people obtain lower interest rates and payment terms that make it easier for them to pay down their debt.

Debt consolidation services are able to help their clients because they have developed a solid relationship with banks and credit card companies. As a result, they are able to negotiate lower interest rates for people who cannot afford their current payments. The creditors understand that it is better that the consumer not get into a position where they cannot pay their loan at all.

This process requires the consumer to close all of their credit card accounts. It then takes approximately 4 to 5 years before the credit card debt is completely paid off. Thought these are not credit card debt consolidation loans, they are very helpful to many consumers as a means of getting out of debt and back on their feet financially.

by Liam McGulliver Fletcher

Something we are all used to in this country is the concept of paying tax. We have to pay tax on the vast majority of purchases we make in our lifetime as well as every pay packet we receive. It is what fuels the economy and allows the government to distribute funds where and when needed.

A percentage of every wage packet we will ever receive goes to the government as tax, as does a slice of what we pay on every shop purchase we make, and it is this money that allows our economic system to work and our government to manage it.

Ironically, it is for these same reasons that everyone hates paying tax! And why shouldn’t we? We know everyone has to do it and we know if we didnt then there’s a good chance anarchy would ensue, but why should that stop us having a good old moan about it?

If however you are a visitor to the UK (or a select few other EU countries) and are a resident of a country outside the EU then there is a scheme in places in certain shops that allows you to claim back any tax that you pay on your purchases!

There are five steps that you should take in order to claim your tax back, and they are:

1. Look for the sticker in shop windows indicating that they participate in the tax free shopping scheme.

2. Check the minimum purchase amount in order to qualify for a tax refund (this can vary from shop to shop)

3. Request and fill out the tax refund cheque form.

4. When you get to customs on your way home, display your passport along with your completed tax refund check form.

5. Visit the tax refund office in the airport to claim your tax back, or you can send of the form via post and receive the full amount back either in the form of a cheque or you can have it credited to your credit card.

Now is a great time to refinance a car loan, especially when those monthly payments are astronomical, leaving one with little-to-no options. Through refinance, the actual monthly payment can be driven down immensely, sometimes up to fifty percent.

Here’s the idea: you find a new lender that is willing to refinance your loan. They will pay off the old loan and enter into a new contract with you. The goal here is that by getting a refinance you can lower your interest rate and monthly payment.

For any interested parties, searching among at least a handful of competitors will allow for the best deal possible. Initially, the individual interested in the refinance will need to offer their financial information, previous debts, credit history, and income.

As you might expect, there are going to be fees associated with getting a refinance car loan. Some of these fees may include lender and registration fees. So make sure the fees don’t eliminate any savings you would have had.

Next, the new contract or submission needs to be approved by the lender, which usually takes very little time, and soon after the previous lender’s contract will be bought out, thereby initiating the new deal.

Here is a small list of why it makes sense to refinance an existing vehicle: the number one reason is that many suffer unknowingly because their lender loan is actually worth more than the vehicle; it may be wise to investigate to see if this is the case.

Just a quick side note on this: if you bought your car at a dealership you may have a harder time negotiating your way into a refinance. Some dealers are harder to work with this way, but it’s still worth a shot.

Another main reason it makes sense to look into a refinance car loan is because interest rates are so low right now. Remember to shop around and get the best rate, but chances are you’ll find something lower than what you currently have.

By saving money on your monthly car payment you’ll have more money each month to put towards other expenses. And even if you decide to keep making the same payment you’ll be able to pay your loan off quicker because of the lower interest rate.

If you’ve been looking for a time to save money, now is it! If you refinance a car loan you can save several hundred a year, depending on how much you own. In the end, a refinance car loan can save you a lot of money.

Having mounds of credit card debt is something that no one wants to need to face. Luckily for you there are great techniques to reduce credit card debt and get back on top again. Many people have used this great guide to help them along the way, so take a look and see what you can find! There are tons of tolls and tips that you’ll need in order to cut up those credit cards for good!

Credit card offers are sent in the mail or e-mail each and each day. If you find one make sure that you throw it in the trash. This is going to be your initial step to getting out of that Visa card debt. Simply don’t get anymore credit cards and start concentrating on the ones that you have.

You must know how much you owe to varied credit card firms. Ensure that you sit down and grab a calculator. You can spend the evening with a bottle of wine and a pile of card bills. Get the balance of each and the minimum amount. This could give you a better idea of the quantity of debt that you really have.

Make sure that you don’t use your credit cards any longer. Those that opt to pay their bills each month and max out their cards each month aren’t getting anywhere with their debt. Put the cards up in the closet in a box and forget them. When you go to the store you must simply use cash. This way you cannot have the temptation of purchasing something that you obviously cannot afford.

When each bills comes for a Visa card pay the minimum amount each month. Paying these payments on time is important. If you don’t you’ll be subject to late charges and finance charges. When time rolls by the payment will lower together with the balance, but make sure you don’t make any changes in the amount that you pay each month.

When you have finally paid off a card, take the monthly payment for that one and add that to the following card. This will help you build speed and pay off your cards a whole lot quicker. Just go down the list of cards that you have and before you know it you will ultimately have no credit card debt at all!

If you have too much debt or you don’t know where to begin, look at your savings. Sometimes it might be better to tap into your savings to repay some debt. If you don’t have anymore savings then check with debt consolidation. There are tons of services that may work with your debt and get you down to something that you can pay for each month.

Right now is the best time to repay or at least reduce credit card debt. Before you get too far into the hole of debt, ensure you begin to make your payments. The debt will follow and haunt you for years so do not let it go!

Is Your Credit Card Debt Out Of Control? A debt settlement program is an awesome alternative! Before filing for bankruptcy, go to Arc Financial, we have the debt reduction experience.

Credit card counseling services have begun to pop up all over the country as they continue to expand their services to reach the growing number of Americans finding themselves in over their heads financially. It is estimated that credit card debt among consumers has reached the $1 trillion mark, and even as the economy begins to improve there are those who are still suffering the consequences of excessive spending and rising costs.

Many credit card companies have stopped issuing credit cards to consumers altogether unless they have absolutely pristine credit ratings, which not too many people have. As I’m sure you remember, it seemed like just yesterday that we were all bombarded with credit card solicitations everywhere we turned. We couldn’t turn on the TV, open our mail boxes, or read a newspaper without seeing sales pitches from the major credit card companies.

It is pretty amazing when you stop to think about how quickly things have changed. Now there are over 1000 credit card counseling services available in the United States working with over 400,000 consumers who find themselves no longer being able to afford to pay their credit card bills.

Sadly, even as the economy begins to turn around, things may get worse for the consumer before they get better. The new legislation governing credit card issuers will put a cap on interest rates being charged and require consumer notification before any raises are instituted. But, the credit card companies are quickly raising rates before these laws go into effect. This can only result in more bankruptcies as raised rates cause more consumers to default.

These counseling services only stand to gain from this as more consumers reach out to them for assistance. These services work with the credit card companies to help keep the consumer from defaulting on their debt. They can often negotiate reduced interest rates from the lender on behalf of the borrower making it easier for the individual to make good on their debt.

Basically these organizations use their pre-existing relationships with the banks and credit card companies to negotiate lower interest rates. At the same time they offer counseling services to the consumer to educate them so that this situation will not be repeated in the future. By the way, credit counseling and debt consolidation services are terms that are pretty much synonymous and used interchangeably so don’t be confused by that.

A representative from one of these services will sit down with the consumer and identify the various causes of their debt, options for reducing the debt and steps they can take to avoid having the same problem in the future. They will then do what they can to find a workable agreement between the credit card company and the individual.

When consumers enter into an agreement with credit card counseling services their debt is consolidated into one monthly payment which the debt consolidation company collects and distributes to the various creditors. A program will typically take 4 to 5 years to complete. While the program is going on the consumer will no longer have an open line of credit with their credit cards. They will in effect be taken away from them and their accounts will be closed.

Head on over to www.debtconsolidationhelpquote.com right away to learn how credit card counseling services can help you become debt free.

Currently, credit cards companies are working to expand their service when it comes to wiring money. Many notable credit card companies have started usingpre-paid credit cards to make it easier for their customers to transfer money online.

The model is as follows; The sender simply goes online to open an account, then inputs the amount and the recipient . The company provides the recipient with a pre-paid credit card and secret PIN which can be used as any accepted credit card, at any ATM, or for any kind of purchase they would like. If the sender wishes to wire more money they simply go online, and the money goes straight onto the card the recipient already has.

Could it be? Have we seen the day we as consumers need no longer carry cash? Some businesses are already attempting to eliminate traditional paychecks, so people have begun having their paychecks transported directly into bank accounts. Many businesses are also turning to online companies to pay employees

So what does all this mean for older, more conventional money transfer services? Many experts have decided the number of people using credit cards or the internet to wire money will surely increase.

Many location based-services have come to grips with the fact that their value will dwindle over the years as more people turn to credit cards to wire money online. To fight back, many location based companies have gotten in with big-name banks and it is projected that by the end of 2009, most of these companies will be offering their services through those banks. And although most banks already have a transfer system set, this move might possibly be the swaying factor that keeps those businesses above water.

The model for these companies is simple. If you use a bank to wire money you will be charged a flat rate whether you choose to send $100 or $1000. Location-based services on the other hand, charge depending on the amount.

So why would anyone choose to use a location-based company instead of a bank? Well location-based services now let the sender to wire the money to a specific, whereas a bank only allows you to send the money from one bank account to another.

Regardless of how the money transfer world fluctuates in the coming years, two things are clear; it will gradually become easier to use a credit card to transfer money online and the time it takes to get that money wired will only be lessened.

All the underground, ninja stealth tactics for transfer money online can be yours! Check out this free website transfer money online before they try to shut it down.

You saw a picture pretty home being sold online and you definitely want it. Should you buy it outright? Definitely you won’t. You’ll have to take a good and long hard look into it before you sign the dotted line and live in that house forever. That’s right. People are getting smarter when buying homes after the mortgage and real estate industry tripped.

If you are buying a home for the first time you should take the time to learn something about real estate. Make sure you understand the terms of real estate contracts and mortgages. Don’t buy a home that costs more than you can afford to spend. Make sure the house doesn’t need expensive repairs.

So check out that house from top to bottom and investigate the neighborhood. However, you must be aware that the more upscale the neighborhood, the pricier the house will be. So if you fall in love with the house at first sight on site, buy it; before you do, rate the house according to: need repairs, repaired, and brand-new.

If it needs repairs, check out the extent of repairs needed and how much it will cost. Armed with the information you can always ask for a lower price or if the cost of the repairs is beyond your present budget for your mortgage, skip it. As for the repaired houses, always check the basement. A damp basement will show water stains on the floor and walls and give off a musty smell. Molds might be lurking on the walls and ceilings and will need professional help to remove safely.

In the kitchen, check how many appliances are there to estimate if your appliances can fit in without additional outlets; check the floor, is it level or does it shake? Inspect the floor for stain — can these be removed with the usual cleaning mop and cleansers? If the sink top is marble, examine if it needs to be re-polished. Inspect the plumbing. Are there leaks? How about the tap water? Does it run well or drips?

In the bathroom, are there bath cabinets? Well maintained bath cabinets should be an asset not a collapsing liability. Look at the plumbing; turn on the tap and flush the toilet. If it works fine, there won’t any problem. To be sure, bring along a plumber to inspect the plumbing in all areas – kitchen, bath, garage, and at the backyard.

Visit the attic should to check it for water stains and the durability of the structure. Does the attic have ventilation and insulation? After you have done the rounds of the interiors, check out the exterior. Are the doors and windows secured? How many entrances are there? Does the house have a fire escape?

If you are seriously considering a house, walk around the neighborhood in the evening when people are home. Is this a neighborhood of young families or retirees? Will you be comfortable living among these neighbors? Try to see the house in the rain. Problems that weren’t apparent before may show up when it rains. If everything checks out and the house is within your budget, now is the time to make your offer.
