The school year is is upon us and it is time to turn our eyes back to the dreaded challenge of head lice. Yes, your child will be going back into the den ofhead lice. Will your child be one of the unfortunate ones to get “cooties”? I remember when a mother came to my door and informed me that her off-spring, who my daughter had just spent the night with, had pediculosis and had been sent home from school. At least she came and told me. Or the time I checked my son and found that he had critters. I wanted to know where he had picked up these “friends” so I checked all of his friend’s heads when they came over (much to his embarrassment). I was horrified when one of his friends was so badly infested that his scalp trembled when I checked him. It has nothing to do with personal cleanliness; it has nothing to do with the creatures flying, hopping, or jumping onto your head (they crawl from shaft to shaft), they are just so contagious. Wouldn’t it be great if we could just prevent them? I decided to do a little checking and came up with some tips for the defensive actions against these irritating little bugs.
