You will see from the 9 day chart in my diary, that I started the Clean 9 quick weight loss program weighing in at 203 pounds, or 14 stones 7 pounds, which at 5 feet 9 inches tall is about 20 to 28 pounds over weight, depending on which book you read. I have been assured by my doctor, that shedding most of this is the only way to reduce my Cholesterol count to a safe level ,without drugs. The extra weight has also made me quite lethargic and breathless if I walk any distance and for somebody who has played physical, active sport most of his life, this has been a very noticeable and unwanted side effect of the weight I’ve put on.
So there you have my reasons for wanting to use the program, but what did I want to achieve both in the short and medium to long term?
Hi everybody, I hope you’ve downloaded and read my diary about my background and experiences with completing the Clean 9 programme, what follows over the coming weeks is more insight into how I manage, or not as the case may be, in the further control of my weight, blood sugar and cholesterol level through healthier eating and the use of products from Forever Living. D Day is April 24th when I have to go for the crucial blood test to determine if my efforts have succeeded and my levels are back to normal.
Ok, back to the story. At the end of the diary, February 8th, you will remember I had achieved my first goal and was preparing for the next stage of further gradual weight loss, in preparation for the dreaded test. I decided to take a week off my plan, but still tried to eat sensibly, although I did try a few old favourites I had been denied by the Clean 9 programme and which would have to become in the future treats rather than staple diet.
Managed to get in some exercise and was quite surprised to find that I had retained my weight, not gaining anything at all. It’s difficult to describe it, but since about day 6 or 7 of the programme, I actually feel healthier. I don’t feel as tired as I was and as I pointed out in the diary, I now find myself running up the stairs without even thinking about it. Even did it in the town centre coming up from the underground car park. Haven’t done that for years and did get a strange look from one elderly lady ! All is looking good at the moment !

Last week was a series of highs and lows. I had decided on a plan of action and routine of healthy eating and regular exercise, which by Friday had produced the loss of a further 2 pounds, which I felt had been quite easily achieved.
Sunday of this weekend however was Mothers Day where traditionally mum’s are spoilt by their offspring. Ours had decided to treat their mum, and myself of course, to a Chinese buffet meal, which I have to admit in all honesty, after 3 weeks of being a good boy, was too good to pass up. So on Friday evening we all went out for our meal and yes you guessed it, the 2 pounds went straight back on, so at the start of this week I was back to square one, but hey, I felt really good. I had been a bit naughty, had a great night out and enjoyed the meal and a laugh with the kids and felt ready to carry on.
I did notice one thing however the following day. I can only assume it must have been the rich food, or the chemicals in the sauces, or whatever, but for about 36 hours after the Chinese meal I felt really odd. As though I was drugged I suppose. I felt bloated, uncomfortable and very lethargic. Perhaps the meal had been a fix of chemicals and toxins which had been purged from my body with the Clean 9 and I was reacting to them !
Since my last update I’ve managed to stick fairly accurately to my meal plans and managed 20 minutes exercise a day, every day except one. Energy levels are good, still running up the stairs and waking up feeling much “fresher”. Great news today, I checked my weight and have lost another 2 pounds. That’s exactly a stone since I started the diet and 2 thirds the way to my goal of 21 pounds before my test on April 24th.
I tried another route for my walk this week along the Brecon / Monmouth canal, south towards town. The walk starts about 150 yards from home and has a slight hill to start and finish, along side the old locks, which were used to lift and lower the canal barges between the higher and lower levels of the canal. I’ve taken some pictures and in my next update I’ll provide a link so you can see exactly where I go.
Bye for now, I hope your weight loss program is going as well as mine, and as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.
Bye for now….Bill

Been a good boy over the last 4 days, although I didn’t get my walk yesterday and lo and behold another 2 pounds off this morning, now down to 187 pounds, or 13 stones 5 pounds, only 5 pounds to go to reach my target ! Apart from the benefits of feeling much better and full of energy and life, I actually feel quite pleased with myself that my weight loss is going so well.
Off to my sisters in Worthing this weekend, so will not be able to stick to my plan as I would like. I expect on Tuesday morning when I weigh next that the 2 pounds will be back on. I’ll post an update with the bad news after I’ve weighed in.
As promised, here’s the link to my walk: My Daily Walk
As usual if you have any questions email me using the link below, but won’t be able to reply until early next week.

Well as I thought, had a really enjoyable weekend away, but the visits to family and friends resulted in the good work of the last week going by the way and I actually put on 3 pounds, so back up to 190 pounds or 13 stones 8 pounds.
A bit disappointing, but expected. I new that I would not be able to get in either my correct diet or exercise, although I did enjoy the cakes and treats and I did manage a walk along the beach and a visit to every shoe shop in Worthing ! Much more than 20 minutes exercise I can assure you.
I’ve started back on my regime in earnest this morning, so will keep the updates coming. That’s all for now and as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.

Well following the excesses of my weekend away and putting back on 3 pounds, since we came back last Monday evening, I have been a very good boy. Being Easter weekend there was plenty of temptation in the form of chocolate, but I only had 2 small squares all weekend. I have managed my exercise every day, in fact yesterday we went out and about and visited Monmouth and had a good walk about, then drove down the Wye valley to Chepstow and had another good walk around the town and castle, before driving home slightly shattered before having roast lamb and settling down to watch the final round of the Masters from Augusta.
Pleased to confirm that when I weight in today, the three pounds I had put on have now vanished and I’m back to 187 pounds, or 13 stones 5 pounds. I now have 11 days until my blood test and in terms of being distracted from my regime, I should have a clear run in and am pretty confident of reaching my target 182 pounds, or 13 stones exactly by D Day. I’ll keep you informed !
That’s all for now and as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.

Not a very good week, had 2 days off my program and only lost a pound, so now down to 186 pounds or 13 stones 4 pounds. On one day I didn’t manage any exercise and on another, went to Ikea and although it seems like I walked miles, it was quite slow, so didn’t get the metabolism going and all we could find to eat was…….arghhhhh McDonald’s !
There’s three things I have to say about this, first it was very tasty, so from that point of view it was enjoyable. Second, I don’t know how many calories it was, but it definitely blew my daily plan out of the water and finally, within about 2 to 3 hours of eating it I felt awful. Tired, lethargic and a splitting headache, exactly how I felt after the Chinese meal a couple of weeks ago. I used to think the talk about additives in junk food affecting you was all talk, but since my detox with the original Clean 9 program and my two experiences with “junk food” since, I’m beginning to believe there may be something in it. I’ve never been “detoxed” before and I’ve never felt so grotty after junk food ! Makes you think !

Couldn’t wait and had to weigh in this morning to see how I was getting on with the 4 pounds required by Friday and to my surprise I’ve already lost 2 pounds, so now down to 184, or 13 stones 2 pounds. Can’t really explain why except that I’ve been really strict with the food and did an extra 10 minutes exercise yesterday and Monday, perhaps that’s what’s done it.
Whatever it was I’m really pleased this morning and confident I can make 13 stones exactly by Friday morning. I’ll keep you informed, but until then as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.

Just had my last meal before my test tomorrow, so now fasting until 10:45 tomorrow morning. I will weigh in before going to the doctors for my blood test to see if I’ve achieved my goal of 13 stones exactly, so I’ll let you know what weight I’ve achieved tomorrow.
Well the day for my blood test has arrived and on weighing this morning before heading off to the doctors, I was 183 pounds, or 13 stones 1 pound. I haven’t quite achieved my target of 13 stones exactly, but I’m only a pound off. What this has proved to me is that the Clean 9 program set me off on the right path and by sticking to the principles after the initial 9 day program, I have still managed to lose more weight,…. more slowly, but overall I feel quite easily. I have more energy, I sleep better and I definitely feel healthier. It’s got me into a routine and it’s working.
I’ve had my blood test this morning, but won’t get the result until Tuesday afternoon. Whatever the result, I still feel that I have achieved something in losing the weight, but if my test comes back and my cholesterol level is acceptable, then I’ll have a double result, can’t wait until Tuesday to find out.
As for the diet, I’m going to carry on until I get to about 177 or 178 pounds, about 12 stones 9 or 10 and see how I feel. I can still grab a little bit flab in a couple of places, so I’ll try and trim them a bit, but I don’t want to be too “skinny”. My wife doesn’t want me to be either !
Well the result is in and the news is not too good. I was originally told I needed to get my cholesterol level down to below 5.0 and it’s 5.34, which is down a little from what it was, but not enough that the doctor does not need to see me to discuss the future ! I have an appointment next week.
I have to admit that when I received the news yesterday afternoon I was disappointed, I thought the changes I’d made and weight I’d lost would have been enough, but I sat and thought about it last night and decided that things weren’t really so bad after all. I have made good progress and what needs to be remembered, is that the Clean 9 program does not profess to lower cholesterol, only detox, lose weight and help you change your lifestyle. Perhaps I was hoping for too much with the cholesterol, or perhaps my change in lifestyle needs longer?
In terms of actual results, let’s look at where I started and where I am now. On February 28th I was 55 years old, 20 to 28 pounds over weight, struggling to control my blood sugar and a couch potato always tired and lethargic with no energy and a high cholesterol level.

Back in a positive frame of mind now after the disappointment of the cholesterol test. Been back on my regime after a day or so of comfort eating and thought I’d best weigh in before the Bank Holiday weekend. Pleased to announce that although I’ve been a bit naughty since Monday, I’ve still managed to lose another 2 pounds and am pleased to report that I am now below my target of 182 pounds or 13 stones and have weighed in this morning at 12 stones 13 pounds or 181 pounds. Made it at last and feel pleased and a bit disappointed at the same time.
I still have a little bit of “belly” left, so my next target is 178 pounds, or 12 stone 9 pounds. I’ll get. there and see how the belly looks and decide if I need a few more pounds off or not. I’m still feeling great with plenty of energy and I don’t now have far to go to achieve the weight I’ll feel comfortable with, my next task is to decide how to change my lifestyle to maintain my weight and not carry on losing. When I’ve decided what I’m going to do I’ll let you know.
As usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.
They say confession is good for the soul, well I’ve been really bad today !
For the first time in at least 3 and a half months I have today eaten, not all at once I hasten to add, fresh crusty bread with butter, 2 yes 2 jam doughnuts and a steak with chips, mushrooms and 2 glasses of wine. How bad is that !
I’ve been bearing my soul and telling you how good I’ve been to lose a stone and half since February 28th, so thought I’d best tell you truth about being bad as well. Don’t feel too guilty though, I think I deserve a treat.
Back to the regime tomorrow, but not after staying awake as long as possible to savour that fulfilled satisfied feeling you only get from good food……. and being a bit naughty and getting away with it !
As usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.
The last 10 days or so have been a bit wild, which is why I’ve been a bit quiet. I’ve not really been able to stick to any sort of routine eating wise, as I’ve had to be out and about and travelling back and forth to the Isle of Wight (More IOW Info). My brother-in-law is trying to move off the islands to the main land, so been going across to help him sort his house ready for the sale and move.
To be able to spend all day there I have been having to get up at 04:00 to leave by 5:15, then have a 2 hour drive to the ferry for an 08:00 sailing. Then an hours crossing and 10 minute drive to the house, so my travelling time door to door is nearly 4 hours each way. Consequently been eating all sorts and the diet has literally gone by the way. Hopefully the last trip for a while tomorrow, so will weigh in on Monday morning to see what if anything I’ve put back on and where I have to start from again. Don’t think I’ve put on too much, as I’ve been doing quite a bit of work at the house gardening etc, but we’ll see on Monday when the “event” will be over.

Well as promised I weighed in today after about 2 weeks of being off my regime in shape at all and pleased to say I’ve only put back on 2 pounds, so I’m now 183 pounds or 13 stones 1. I do have one more trip to make to the Isle of Wight (More IOW Info) later this week, but as of this morning I’ve started my regime of aloe juice and bran flakes for breakfast, meal replacement lunch and low calorie meal with a Garcinia Plus tablet 20 minutes before each.
My target now is 177 pounds or 12 stones 9 and then maintain that weight but continue to reduce my cholesterol for the next test at the end of July. I’ll keep you informed of my progress and as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.

Hi all, sorry it’s been a bit quiet here, changed my hosting company and had to back up and re-install everything to my new hosts servers, so been off line and a bit busy, but back now. I’ve got quite a few articles to post over the coming day or so watch out for plenty of interesting information.
With regards to the diet, been able to keep fairly well to my regime except for one day and it’s absolutely pouring down here today, so I won’t take a 20 minute shower ! I’ll weigh in again on Friday to see how I’ve got on this week, not sure how much I’ll lose, but as much concerned about the low fat and reduced cholesterol now.
Speak to you soon and as usual if you have any questions email me using the link below.

Ok, weighed in on Friday and my weight is the same as when I weighed last, which was 183 pounds or 13 stones 1. So what is my little experiment ? Well you may remember I mentioned some time ago that I when I reached my target weight I was going to work out how to maintain it, but continue to reduce my cholesterol, well that’s what I’ve done this week.
I have pretty much kept to my regime of Aloe juice, bran flakes with semi skimmed milk for breakfast, a meal replacement shake for lunch and a 600 calorie meal in the evening, but I have added a thick slice of bread and cholesterol lowering margarine for lunch and a medium glass of wine, about 150 to 160 calories with my evening meal. I also only exercised every other day.
This has resulted in no weight increase and I still feel fine. I have done some research and it seems that a good whole meal bread has no dietary cholesterol, so is ok and much to my delight there is now a great deal of research which indicates that a daily glass of red wine can actually help with reducing cholesterol and have a positive effect on prevention of heart disease. I suppose I’ll now have to force myself to drink a glass each evening. The things I have to suffer for the benefit of my health !!

Ok, just a quick update with a piece of information I was given this week. I had to go for my annual diabetes check up, all is ok but got talking to the nurse about things in general, my weight loss and cholesterol level coming down etc. and she asked me how I was doing it. I explained about the Clean 9 program and change in lifestyle since I started in February and she then told me that she had been diagnosed with a high cholesterol level a couple of years back and was given the tip to use Soya milk on cereals at breakfast rather than skimmed or semi skimmed cows milk, as it helps faster reduction of cholesterol because it originates from plants and so does not contain any animal fats.
So two good tips this week to help out in my master plan, a glass of red wine each day, which I’m finding very hard to stick to but I’ll persevere….. and Soya milk with breakfast cereals. I’m actually using it in my lunchtime meal replacement drink as well, the Soya milk not the red wine! It tastes ok with both, but been advised not to use it in tea or coffee.
Thought I’d pass on that little gem for you until I weigh in over the weekend to see what I’ve lost this week and if I’m back on track to my target weight. Ss usual if you have any questions email me using the link below, or if you’d like to follow me on Twitter, you can do so by clicking the link at the top right of the page.

Ok, I’ll get to the heading in a moment, first things first, this week I’ve lost 3 pounds and am back down to 12 stones 12, or 180 pounds. Managed to stick pretty well to my regime this week and got in plenty of walks, so it works and the weight is coming off again. Benn using the Soya milk for about a week now and can’t really say that it has any negative affects or tastes, so will keep using it to see if it does help lower the cholesterol at the end of July. Obviously keeping up with the red wine medicine !
Now to the headline. One of my aims in starting this blog was to try and raise awareness of a safe quick weight loss program, the Clean 9 program by Forever Living Products, because many fad diets which profess to get the weight off quickly have had bad press for numerous reasons, mainly the ill effects they can have on your health and they are not long term solutions to an underlying problem. I obviously believe that the Clean 9 program can fulfill this need within society, which is why I have chosen to both use and promote it and for those who may just have picked on this update to read, I have lost 23 pounds since February 28th, have more energy and feel fitter than I have for years, so this program works.
