So every year we all make those resolutions about losing weight, exercising more, and eating less you know the ones. Two weeks later we drive past the Fitness Club, hang our clothes on the work out apparatus, and not remember what we said after all it is too tiresome.

For me, I am one of those persons who, needs to know, has to assess things. To know I am making progress and although stepping on the scales once a week is the ultimate test how can you analyze activity during the week to make sure you’re getting enough exercise? I determined I needed to track how far I walked each day as a evaluation of my activity level. I also knew by setting myself a target I would compete with my ego to beat it.

Last year I tried out one of those ultra-cheap (can’t get any cheaper) pedometers that was being giving away and found it was extremely useless. It only recorded about half the steps I took, but counted every single little bump I hit when driving my car. An appealing, but ultimately futile experimentation.

Over the months I reviewed a slew of pedometers, and decided to go up-market and settled on the Omron HJ 112.

Let me ask you two questions. First, how many sit ups have you done to date, but still not seen any visible signs of a six pack? Secondly, how many pieces of home gym equipment have you stored under the bed or in the garage that you didn’t touch after New Year’s Day? The truth is that you gave up on these things a long time ago because they flat out do not work, am I right?

This is the explanation why people with more than a good amount of stomach fat move from fad diet to fad diet every so often. And it’s the same exact reasoning that these diets generate enormous amounts of profits from these desperate people wanting their own set of sexy washboard abs. Just the same is that’s why you’re always seeing on those tv informercials a new technique or system that swears you’ll have the quickest and sexiest set of abs with the least amount of work involved. They’ve mastered the chase for the dream for these people that they fall for every single time. These people buy on emotion and rarely even give much thought in the purchase.

But just think about it for a second, if those fads actually worked, then why are so many new ones being released each day, week, month or year? If they truly worked, then there would be no need for new equipment or special diets would there?

After my little blip last week, being a bit more stringent with my diet and making sure I got regular exercise, the 2 pounds have now disappeared and I’m back to 176 pounds, or 12 stones 8. Normal service is resumed ! It’s interesting though, I have now discovered that if I retain a balance between a few treats and then a little careful diet planning with exercise, I can achieve exactly what I want. Eat some things which are bad for me which I really enjoy, and by being sensible, maintaining my weight.

The crunch of course has now arrived and I’ve today been for my cholesterol blood test. Monday afternoon will tell me if the combinations I’ve been using have worked and the level is down to below 5 and a more acceptable level.

Using Self Hypnosis for weight loss is very easy because we all go in and out of trance regularly on a daily basis. Examples of when you experience trances include watching an interesting movie, finding your way home and not really remembering any part of the journey.

The experience of hypnosis is very similar to these trance states that we already experience on a daily basis but the difference is that we now use it in a conscious way to achieve our dream weight.

A little blip to the master plan this week, put on just under 2 pounds, so back up to 178, or 12 stones 10. We’ve had visitors and been out and about quite a bit so been difficult to stick to my regime, so not entirely surprised. This week will be a good test though, if I can just crank up the regime by cutting out a few of the little treats like a slice of bread at lunch, making sure the evening meals are 600 calories and getting my exercise everyday, by next weekend it should be off again and back to normal, ready for the blood test on the 30th.

When you are beginning a weight loss programme, you may find it helpful to know some short and simple steps to make your weight loss programme more effective and more enjoyable for you. If you follow these weight loss tips, then you should see some quick and true results from your own effort.

1 – Establish Reasonable Goals If you establish some reasonable goals and they are not too farfetched, then you will realise that you will see the results much faster and lose more weight.

Making sure you know what you are aiming to achieve from the weight loss programme is crucial. You should consider how much weight you want to be losing a week or month and recognise that reaching small goals will keep you motivated and on target.

2 – Avoid Failure – Prepare to Succeed Check your food cupboard – Get rid of all the Junk Food! Find your stash of Chocolates and dump it! (Now!) Stock up on Vegetables, Fresh Fruit, High Fibre Foods, (Bran, Brown Rice, Wholemeal Bread etc.). Also, Healthy Snacks, Green Tea, Mineral Water and any other fresh and healthy options you can find at your local shop.

3 – Eat a Healthy Breakfast Never skip your most important meal of the day! Missing breakfast will result in making you feel really hungry later in the morning and then you will be reaching for the nearest chocolate bar or packet of biscuits (not on your diet plan – I think!). Therefore a healthy breakfast is essential – don’t miss it!!
